Library Performance Analysis

Zdjęcie biblioteki

We Measure What Matters.

Library Performance Analysis provides reliable insights into how libraries operate, what value they generate for their communities, and how they can develop in the future.
It combines internationally recognised standards with locally adapted methodologies to evaluate performance indicators, users' satisfaction, and the broader social and economic impact of libraries.
By offering comparable and evidence-based results, it helps libraries, policymakers, and researchers to better understand strengths, identify challenges, and plan sustainable growth.

What Our Libraries Do?

In Poland, libraries come in different types – each of them serves a distinct population of users, reflecting their specific missions and roles within society.
Because of these differences, libraries conduct diverse studies tailored to their needs and capacities, ranging from user satisfaction surveys to performance analysis and assessments of social and economic impact.

Public Libraries

  • Public libraries have been carrying out performance indicator research since 2012,
    user satisfaction studies since 2015,
and assessments of their social and economic impact since 2021.
  • In the 2025 public library performance research (covering data for 2024), 2,487 libraries took part
    – representing 97.9% of all institutions in Poland!
  • More than 9,000 public library users participated in the pilot studies on social and economic impact.

Pedagogical Libraries

  • Pedagogical libraries have been included in performance indicator research since 2013.
  • In the 2023 survey, 32 libraries took part – representing 62.5% of all pedagogical libraries.

Academic Libraries

  • Academic libraries have been assessing their performance since 2002, and since 2012 they have been part of the national AFB framework.
  • Since 2021, they have also been conducting user satisfaction surveys, giving students and staff a direct voice in evaluating library services.
Our Methodology

Research Methodologies

Our studies are based on international ISO standards, translated and adopted by the Polish Committee for Standardization. This ensures that our research follows globally recognised methodologies while remaining adapted to the Polish context.
Results and Reports

Results and Reports

We make our research findings openly available so that libraries, researchers, and decision-makers can use them to improve services and demonstrate impact. Our results are not just numbers—they are a resource for understanding how libraries work, how they change over time, and how they contribute to society.
